Summary

Rotaract Club Moscow International (ROMI) is organizing its second annual amateur photo exhibition, which will launch in May 2008. The exhibition will include photos taken by members and friends of Rotaract clubs from around the world and attract the attention to the phenomena of the street children in different countries.

The event tends to build awareness of the issue of homelessness not only in developing countries, but worldwide.
Money raised during this event will go for ROMI charitable projects, which include Club's work with two orphanages next to Moscow.

Project Theme

The theme for 2009 is Street Kids. Photographs will capture what the live of these kids looks like. Sometimes it is full of sorrow and violence. But there are the moments of their lives when they smile and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Through the photographs we would like to attract people's attention and action to this burning issue.
The Exhibition

The exhibition will include approximately 20 digital photos, gathered from Rotaract clubs from around the world through Rotary's internal communications network. Each club may submit up to 5 photos. The story behind the picture will be published on the biggest international social picture-sharing platform Flickr (www.flickr.com). The intent is to make this an annual event, growing in stature and scope each year.

Deadline for photo submission is April 30, 2009

Gala Opening (May, 2009)

A jury will choose the top 3 photos - these will be framed and displayed at the gala and auctioned to the attendees, with proceeds going to benefit Rotaract charitable projects. The top 20 photos chosen by the jury will also be displayed at the event. If sponsorship can be found, a catalogue of the top 20 photos, including the stories behind the photos, will be printed.
Rotaract clubs whose photos place in the top 3 will receive a share in the auction proceeds that may be used toward their own club's charitable projects.
Those attending the event include members of Rotary clubs and their friends and associates.
